Love, Guaranteed

Rachael Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr. both put online dating and Heather Graham on trial in Netflix's “Love, Guaranteed. This straight forward romantic comedy without twists should be watched before or during dinner with your date or spouse. Cute and uncomplicated, the only fault to this movie is the lack of character development. Cook is a lawyer at her own struggling firm. She has no unattractive or unsatisfactory features except for her Tiffany blaring vehicle, and her inability to believe her wealthy black client for the first quarter of the film. Wayans is very charismatic and more believable as a lawyer than Cook. It is unbelievable that Wayans is a single, ex-professional basketball player, and perfect bachelor with no luck in finding a woman of interest in almost one thousand dates. Eventually the pair turn their gazes on each with the typical, they were right in front of me the entire time, schtick. The film doesn't pretend to be what it is not. It truly does entertain in the short time that it seems to fly by.

Personally, Heather Graham's delusional character equipt with her all-white team of lawyers represent the real life corporations of today. Those of which make empty promises to customers, openly steal billions, while teams of justice spewing lawyers protect their billing dollars, as well as their undeserving bosses fortunes. Wayans, who rightfully steals every scene he is in, should not be saved by a caucasian woman who at first has more faith in the corporate dating company, rather than in real love. In typical new Hollywood format, this film uses the one gay character for comedic laughs and the black guy as the co-lead of the film. Cook's and Wayans characters would never be love interests in reality. Lisa Durupt, on the other hand, is extremely attractive and sexy in every scene she appears in.

I rate this movie: ENTERTAINING with 3.5/5 movie tickets
