Hubie Halloween

Adam Sandler signed a four-picture deal in 2014 which produced some of the worst rated comedies produced from the comedian (The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, and The Week Of). Based from Netflix's questionable viewing metrics, Netflix offered a 2nd four-picture deal to Sandler worth $275 million dollars, which he accepted. Hubie Halloween is fun and kid friendly with a positive message. Starring Sandler, Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Maya Rudolph and Ray Liotta, the film offers great cameos and familiar faces from friends of Sandler. Maya Rudolph shines, Julie Bowen is attractive inside and out, and Shaq is hilarious. The positive messaging and family characters make up for the, at times dry physical comedy and 90's style writing of a Sandler comedy.

Tragically, Cameron Boyce was set to star in the film, but died in the days before shooting began. Boyce's former Jessie (Disney Channel comedy series) co-star Karan Brar was then recast in his role. The movie was dedicated to him. Hubie Halloween is by far the best of the 5 films produced by his Netflix deals. Happy that the movie was released directly to the streaming service.

I rated this film: Entertaining with 3.5/5 movie tickets
