#Alive

This South Korean zombie film starring Yoo Ah-in and Park Shin-hye drops you in the middle of a zombie outbreak. Its a breath of fresh air not going through a bunch of scientific jargon that would muddle and complicate the plot of the movie. Alive is directed by Cho Il-hyung, who co-adapted the film from the original script,"#Alone" with Hollywood screenwriter Matt Naylor. Simple and plain well shot survival zombie thriller. Having the characters squeeze through impossible death defying situations is a must in the genre. Asian developed zombie movies tend to be much better than Western produced films in the same genre. Maybe graphics could've been a little cleaner and the set design could've been more closed in as intended, but the film lacks very little. A gamer and his neighbor bravely fights to survive an outbreak without any communication from survivors that leaves them without any hope from outside of their aptartment complex.

At the press conference on "#Alive" held in Seoul, Yoo said, “With this film, I had the chance to express diverse things as an actor. Although it was a strong genre film, it also dealt with the very instinctive feeling of wanting to survive. Even if we were not in a situation as extreme as in the film, we all struggle for our lives and would do anything to survive, and I felt the joy of depicting such a feeling”.

I rated this film: Entertaining!! with 4/5 movie tickets
